This is the perfect first aid kit to put in your riding pack!
I bought this kit at a vendor’s booth the night before an a Big Bear enduro ride a few years ago. Fits perfectly in the front pocket of my Klim Nac Pak. I found it to be a well stocked first aid kit, I only added a windlass tourniquet. Fast forward to this summer, while on the Hard Way enduro ride in Big Bear, I had an impact on the outside of my forearm with a dead tree branch sticking out from a bush. The branch left a big open wound on my arm, probably 2.5 inches long and 1 inch wide. The wound was spurting blood initially. I held pressure on it with my glove and flagged down a good samaritan rider (thank you!), who helped me get my first aid kit out. We used the gauze sponges to stuff the wound, which had luckily stopped bleeding, and used the gauze wrap to cover the wound, then wrapped the whole thing with the cohesive bandage, which was super easy to wrap with, probably could have managed it alone if needed. I was able to ride 15 miles back to town where I went to the emergency room and got stitched up. The emergency room nurses were impressed with the dressings we had used. This kit worked perfectly in my situation and got me home safe. Will definitely buy it again.
Garrett, wow! That is gnarly. We're so glad you had the kit with you and, more importantly, that you were able to get the bleeding controlled and make it safely to the ER.
Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review and the photos. Hearing that the kit helped you control the bleeding, get patched up, and safely make it off the trail is exactly why we put these kits together for riders. We believe every rider should carry first aid supplies and know how to use them (hence our Riders 1st Responders First Aid/CPR classes). Kudos to the fellow rider who stopped to help you out!
We hope the arm is healing up well, and we appreciate your support of The Kurt Caselli Foundation. Ride safe! 🧡
